On the 25th September, 1939, the following addresses

were raided simultaneously by Post Office officials

accompanied by Police by virtue of a warrant under the Tele-

communications Ordinance No.18 of 1936 as amended by No.23

of 1939 :-

771, Nathan Road, 1st floor.

172, Nathan Road, 4th floor.

176, Nathan Road, 3rd floor.

At 771 Nathan Road, 1st floor a complete

transmitting and receiving set with additional receivers

were found. The following Chinese males were arrested at

this address between 11.15 hours on the 25th and 10.00 hours

on the 26th :-

YUEN LAP KWAN,

LAI YUK LAN,

TSUI PAK MING,

CHIEN CHI FOONG,

SUM KING CHOW,

TING YUK YAN,

CHAU SZE.

They were charged with establishing, maintaining or working

an unlicensed telegraph etc. After certain remands, the

case is to be heard today, Mr. Peter Sin appearing for the

defendants. The second defendant has already been

discharged.

I give no full details of the charges against the

above defendants as it is the case of the Post Master

General, but it leads up to the disclosures which follow.

At 172 Nathan Road, 4th floor, a loaded automatic pistol was found and also a revolver. A bodyguard named TO CHING TIN has been charged with the possession of this

revolver, the case to be heard today.
